  • Cuticle- The hair cuticle is the outermost layer that resembles fish scales and it protects both Medulla and Cortex.

Now, there are two ways to color hair-

  • First to remove melanin from hair by bleaching.
  • Second to use a hair dye to add artificial pigment to hair.

There are three types of hair dyes-

  • Temporary- It is only restricted to the hair cuticles which is the outermost layer.
  • Semi-Permanent- It can enter cortex but does not mix with natural pigment of your hair.
  • Permanent- It penetrates your hair cuticles and gets mixed with natural color.

1. Baking Soda Paste-

  • Mix baking soda with lemon juice.
  • You will get a paste.
  • Apply the paste on your hair strands

  • Rinse it with lukewarm water.

2. Vitamin C Powder-

Vitamin C is very beneficial for increasing our immune system. It is used in many skin care products because of its skin lightening property. But it is also effective to remove the permanent hair dye.

  • Take some Vitamin C tablets and crush it.
  • Add the crushed powder to your shampoo.
  • Apply the shampoo to your hair.
  • Let it stay for 10-15 minutes.
  • Wash it off with lukewarm water.

3. White Vinegar and Water-

We all know white vinegar has got bleaching property and it is very effective for cleansing purpose. Many people even use white vinegar to clean the scalp of impurities.

  • Take white vinegar and warm water in equal quantity.

  • Mix equal parts of Baking soda in equal parts of Anti-dandruff shampoo.
  • Shampoo your hair with this mixture.
  • Rinse off the shampoo completely with warm water.

5. Dish Washing Soap with Shampoo-

Don’t worry your hair is not a dirty utensil and we know it. Dish washing soap is very effective to remove/fade the permanent hair dye. But remember one thing, Dish washing soap can be harsh on your hair, so make sure to moisturize it with coconut or olive oil later.

  • Mix 4 drops of dishwashing soap in two equal parts of shampoo.
  • Properly mix the two ingredients.

6. Hydrogen Peroxide and Water-

7. Lemon Juice with Water-

  • Mix 2 tbsp. of Lemon juice
  • With 2 tbsp. of Water
  • After Lemon juice is diluted.
  • Apply it on your hair
  • Let it stay for 5 minutes
  • Wash it off with warm water.

8. Epsom Salt and Baking Soda-

Not many know that Epsom salt is also effective in fading the hair color.

  • Mix equal quantity of Epsom salt with Baking Soda
  • Make a paste or solution of it with the help of warm water.
  • Store the solution in a bottle.
  • Spritz the solution on your hair and let it stay for 10 minutes.
  • Rinse it off with warm water.

9. Honey and Cinnamon-

Honey is a natural bleaching agent and helps significantly to fade the hair color.

  • Take a 2tbsp. of Cinnamon powder.
  • Add Honey in it to make a paste.      
  • Apply the paste on your hair as a mask.
  • Let it stay for 2 hours.
  • Rinse it off with herbal shampoo.
