Winter-the healthy season is here. Doctor’s call winter a healthy season for many reasons. In winter we get many amazing fruits and vegetables to eat which are very beneficial for our health. But winter, according to me, is also a sluggish season; we do not wish to come out of our blanket. So, how to stay healthy and fit during winter?  By making a proper balance between laziness and being active.

With shorter days and colder weather, we lose our motivation very soon of exercising, eating healthy and staying fit. All this can weaken our immune system, posing a great risk of you falling sick and catching cough and cold, which is very frequent in winter days.

Ways to stay healthy and fit during winter

  • Meditate- I agree that coming out of the blanket in winter is the most difficult task. But meditation is one great exercise to collect your thoughts, feel your emotions and to stay calm and composed. In this Pandemic time, we all have understood how important it is to be positive and active. So, if you still haven’t started with meditation, winter is the perfect time to start it and keep it continued.
  • Drink Warm Water- Drinking warm water first thing in the morning, is a ritual which never gets old and we all have seen our elders following it. Warm water is filled with immense benefits like better metabolism, detoxification, weight loss, and proper digestion. Consumption of warm water especially during winter makes you stay healthy and fit.
  • Get Moving- Winter is the season of laziness, even the person who is gym-freak gets inactive during winter. But it is necessary to exercise during winter, if you do not wish to go out; you can exercise inside your house by doing yoga or at-home gym. Performing various strength training exercise is also a good option. Before doing any type of exercise always warm up your body first.
  • Start a Morning Song- To make most of the winter morning; it is good to play some rocking songs so that you do not get lazy. Songs fill a great energy in us; they keep us active and grooving. Listening songs and doing your household chores is one of the best combination.
  • Get up and Get ready- Before this pandemic, you all had to go to office so getting up and getting ready was necessary. But now during this pandemic, work from home has taken away option of getting ready and getting up. Be determined, and even in winter get up, have a shower of warm water and get dressed. Having neatly dressed and ready gives a different type of positive feeling and makes us feel healthy.
  • Set up Goal- It is very necessary to set up a goal. Having a goal in front of us makes us want to achieve it. Even if we feel like getting tucked in a blanket and staying there, the goal will prompt us to get up and achieve it. Make a proper time schedule, when to do yoga, how much time to spend in household chores and when to start working.
  • Sit in Sun- Sun is very important for us, it fills us up with Vitamin D. Make it a rule to go outside and sit in sun for at least 20 minutes. The sunshine and daylight gives us a positive boost and also fills us with energy. Make sure that you decide the time; sitting in sun for a longer time will harm your skin.
  • Munch on winter food- Winter brings many amazing food with it like beetroot, carrot, green leafy vegetables and sweet potato. All these are very nutritious and very beneficial for our skin and hair. These vegetables are best found in winter season, so try to consume as much as you can on these winter food, they will be helpful to you for whole year.
  • Don’t forget Water- Often in winter, we forget to drink water. Make sure you drink the desired amount of water every day to keep yourself hydrated. Water helps to flush out the toxins from the body and also carry the nutrients to the body. It maintains body fluids.
  • Have a proper sleep- In winters we often relax and watch Netflix and chill out. This interrupts our sleep. So, you can make a routine of Netflix and Chill during weekends and enjoy your proper routine during weekdays. Have an uninterrupted sleep of 8 hours; this will keep your body energetic and active.
  • Skin trouble- Winter’s dry and cold wind damages your skin and hair health. It is very necessary to take care of your skin and hair during winter. Winter brings with it all the problems like chapped lips, dry skin and damaged hair. So, make sure to apply proper moisturiser and sun protection creams to avoid any problems.

Other Precautions to take in Winter

  • Quit smoking, as during winter’s it leads to more of the respiratory problem.
  • Wear woollen clothes, whenever you go out as it will keep you warm.
  • Wash your hands frequently, to keep bacteria and viruses away.
  • Try your hands on something new and unique activity, it will keep you engage and motivated.

So, these are some of the ways to stay active and fit in winters. Enjoy this amazing chilling weather by doing something new and also take care of yourself.
