Since ancient days, Neem is considered very pure. Even in Ayurveda texts Neem tree is described as ‘Sarva Roga Nivarini’, which means Universal Healer. People of India consider, Neem as Sacred, it is considered as the symbol of good health and protection. Neem is called as ‘Village pharmacy’, as the people living in the village uses it for many reasons. These days we even have Neem oil. Now, how to use Neem oil for dandruff?

Dandruff is one of the major hair problem these days, it weakens the hair follicles and also is the reason for hair fall. Neem oil is known for potent therapeutic property. It helps to nourish and moisturize the hair locks and also treats the dandruff.

  • Promotes Hair Growth-

Neem oil is an effective hair oil that supports healthy cell division, it helps to increase blood circulation and promotes hair growth. While encouraging hair growth, it also takes care of hair thinning and hair fall which is caused by pollution and stress.

Giving yourself a head massage with neem oil is very relaxing. Neem oil is rich in fatty acids like oleic acid, stearic acid and linoleic acid. They help to nourish the hair strands and scalp and also revitalizes and restore the dry, damaged and brittle hair.

  • Helps with Dandruff and Itching-

With its antibacterial and antifungal property, Neem oil helps to remove dandruff and scalp itchiness.

DIY Neem Oil Hair Mask

1. Neem oil and Apple Cider Vinegar-

Apple Cider Vinegar is the best ingredient when it comes to maintaining the pH value of the scalp and reducing the dry scalp condition. It helps to remove dandruff and fight bacterial infections.

Hair Mask:

  • Take 1 tbsp. of Neem Oil
  • Add 2 tbsp. of ACV
  • Apply the mixture on your scalp and massage it.
  • Put a shower cap, to avoid the messiness.
  • Leave it about for 20 minutes.
  • Wash it with mild shampoo.

2. DIY Neem Oil Shampoo-

A neem oil shampoo is the best way to treat dandruff. It is very easy to prepare it.

Hair Mask:

  • Take ½ tbsp. of neem oil
  • Add it in the regular shampoo
  • Gently shake the bottle.
  • Massage the oil on the scalp and let it lather.
  • Rinse off the shampoo with lukewarm water.

3. Olive Oil and Neem Oil-

Olive oil is very effective for hair, it nourishes the scalp and makes hair soft and smooth. It is termed as a natural conditioner for hair and is effective in dandruff treatment. Neem oil rich in antibacterial property and helps to remove the bacterial and fungal infection from the scalp.

Hair Mask:

  • Take 1 tbsp. of Olive oil
  • Mix it with 1 tbsp. of Neem oil
  • Apply the mixture on your scalp and massage for 10 minutes.
  • Wrap a towel around your head.
  • Let the oil stay for 20 minutes.
  • Wash your hair with a mild shampoo.

4. Neem Oil Hair Mask-

This Neem Oil hair mask brings the best out of your hair. It improves the hair texture, makes them soft and shiny and also give it a bouncy look. In this hair pack, neem oil is combined with goodness of bhringraj, fenugreek and shikakai powder. All these ingredients possess antibacterial and antifungal properties, which helps to treat dandruff.

Hair Mask:

  • Take 2 tbsp. of Neem oil
  • Add few basil leaves in it
  • Now, add 1tsp. of bhringraj powder, shikakai powder and fenugreek powder.
  • Apply the mixture on your scalp and hair.
  • Wrap a towel or put a shower cap around the hair.
  • Let the mask stay for 30 minutes.
  • Wash off your hair with mild shampoo.

5. Neem Oil and Lemon Peel-

Lemon peel is rich in antifungal properties and helps to prevent any scalp infections. It keeps the scalp clean and clear and also make hair healthy. Neem oil already helps to improve the hair texture. A mixture of these two helps to remove dandruff.

Hair Mask:

  • Take 1 lemon peel
  • Add few drops of neem oil in it
  • Mix them together and you will get a non-sticky solution
  • Apply the mixture on your hair and let it stay for 30 minutes
  • Rinse off the mask with lukewarm water.

6. Neem Oil and Yogurt-

Yoghurt is very effective in removing dandruff. It contains Lactobacillus paracasei bacteria, which helps to make hair healthy and also restore the scalp’s microbiome balance. A perfect neem oil hair mask to remove dandruff, and cool the itchy scalp.

Hair Mask:

  • Take 1 cup of yogurt
  • Add few drops of neem oil in it.
  • Apply the paste on your hair and scalp
  • Wrap a towel on your hair
  • Let the mask stay for 30 minutes
  • Wash it off with mild shampoo.

So, above are some of the ways through which you can use neem oil and remove dandruff from hair. The ingredients which we add in neem oil helps to treat dandruff. Just remember excess use of neem oil can cause scalp irritation. Always use neem oil with a carrier oil twice or thrice a week.
