Since childhood we are taught to keep ourselves clean, brushing the teeth twice, keeping our nails clean and clear etc. All these hygiene habits are inculcated in our personality so that we do not forget them. But as we grow up, we come to know that there’s more to Hygiene and as a woman, we need to extra careful about them. Just like others, I too used to make some of the following hygiene mistakes. So, check out the 13 Hygiene mistakes most women make daily.

Our everyday habits are very necessary as they make our daily routine and can contribute to bad personal hygiene. We do not knowingly make these mistakes; it’s just we are not much aware of these things. So, let’s check out the blog to understand what all things come in proper hygiene.

Check it out-

1. Sleeping with make-up on-

I can understand when you come home from a party, you are all tired up and do not have the energy to even get up. But sleeping with your makeup is the worst treatment you can give to your skin, it’s like sleeping in a tight dress where you cannot breathe freely. First of all, always use a good quality makeup, it won’t cause any reaction to your skin and second, always remove your makeup before sleeping.

Removing makeup helps your skin to breathe properly and you won’t face any breakout.

2. Sharing your makeup products-

Many times without noticing, we tend to share our makeup products with others. Well, this is not acceptable. Using other makeup brush or makeup products is like taking their bacteria. Therefore, you should never share your makeup products, they are once personal.

3. Exfoliating daily-

It is true that exfoliation helps to remove dead skin cells from your face and deeply cleanse it. But daily exfoliation can lead to skin breakout. Exfoliation should not be done on daily basis; it will cause you more harm than good. Always exfoliate your face once or twice in a week.

4. Using the same toothbrush for a long period of time-

We do not really care for our brush, in fact, it’s in our habit to hold onto one brush for a long period of time. Brushing is important and we even do it twice a day, but do we think whether or not our teeth are cleaned. Yes, the toothbrush should be changed every 2-3 months and not when it gives up.

5. Not showering Post-workout-

It is a very good habit to workout. In fact, exercising keeps your fit, active and healthy. But if you are taking your health so seriously, you also should take care of your skin. When you work out, you get all sweaty and that is one great place for bacteria and germs to come and party. The more you delay in taking shower, after work out the more time germs and bacteria get to settled down.

6. Cutting your toe nails too short-

You must have seen that when by mistake you cut your toe nails too short, you feel difficulty in walking. This happens as cutting your toe nails too short put a lot of stress on the toenails, which can lead to problems like ingrown nails or pincer nails. So, make sure you cut your nails in a proper shape so that it does not put much stress.

7. Not cleaning everyday objects like remote-

Many of you might not have habit of cleaning everyday objects daily like TV Remote, Laptop, Mobile phone etc. However, these objects should be cleaned daily, as they are the hotspots of bacteria. Remote the most used objects are a favourite place for cold virus.

So, if you are allergic to dust, you should clean these objects daily.

8. Not changing your innerwears daily-

You might be thinking who does that? But believe me, it is a dirty little secret of lot of women. Many women keep re-using their underwear and bras on multiple days. You might feel that your bra is not yet dirty, it may not look dirty but it soaks up too much of dirt and bacteria which can cause irritation and breaking out.

9. Using dirty cell phone-

Most likely mobile phone is something, which we keep with us 24*7. Have we ever thought of cleaning it? Yes, mobile phone too gets dirty, from using it daily and constantly. It attracts lot of bacteria and germs from the different surfaces we keep it on. So, whenever you make a call, you transfer your hands germs to mobile and from mobile it gets transferred to face.

10. Using a dull-razor-

We often underestimate the importance of a sharp-razor. When you shave your legs, hands and underarms with a good and sharp razor, you ensure a soft and smooth skin. Using a dull razor, means forcefully pulling out hair by roots which can cause micro tears in the skin which is both painful and an easy way for bacteria to enter.

11. Brushing your teeth, the wrong way-

You might be thinking, that “Yes I know how to brush teeth”. But still, as we grow up we tend to forget how important it is to give time to our teeth. Yes, many of you just brush quickly and head out for the day. But you should give time to brush your teeth and make sure you have cleaned every tooth.

Also, you do not need a lot of toothpaste, just a dollop is fine. So, next time take time to brush your teeth and do not forget to floss.

12. Using Scented body products-

Scented body products are amazing to use, as they smell incredible. Until and unless your body products have a natural fragrance you do not need to worry about it. The artificial fragrance contains unforgiving, chemicals that affect sensitive skin.

13. Sleeping with contacts on-

If you are wearing contact lenses, you need to take care of yourself more. Sleeping with your contact lenses develops microscopic organisms and no one wants that. So, make it a habit of removing your contact lenses daily before going to bed.

So, above are some 13 important points which you need to take care off.  Most of them you already might be knowing, but it was necessary to clear some of the misconceptions.

If you know of any other hygiene point, which one should take care off. Please share it with us.
