While grey hair is a sign of wisdom and maturity, some have concerns about hair greying as it takes away their youthful appearance. If you are also experiencing premature greying of hair, some ways are using to stop or slow down the process. Many people ask how to prevent white hair. Well, it will depend on your genetics. If your father or mother, or someone in the family has a history of premature white or grey hair, then there is a high possibility that you may also experience the same.

Nevertheless, once you cross 35 years of age, your follicles will likely produce grey or white hair. If you want to stop premature greying of hair or how to prevent white hair, this post will help you disclose some prominent tips about preventing white hair.

Let’s jump right into it.

#1 Stop Smoking

If you smoke and have grey hair, then you know what is causing it. Smoking can turn your hair grey before time. Smokers are 2.5 times more likely to have premature greying than non-smokers. According to experts, smoke produces free radicals in your system, damaging the cells responsible for producing melanin. Melanin is a natural pigment, and your eye, skin, and hair colour will depend on the amount and type of melanin you have. Smoking hinders the production of melanin, which can cause premature greying. So, if you have been asking around about how to prevent white hair, you should keep your lifestyle in check.

#2 Black Tea Rinse

One of the best remedies for premature greying is black tea rinse. Buy some loose black tea and boil a cup of water. Add two tablespoons of black tea along with one tablespoon of salt into the boiling water. Let the mixture sit for a while to cool down. As the mixture cools, wash your hair to remove oil or any other product. Apply the mixture on your freshly washed hair and allow it to dry. Wash it off once it is completely dried. Repeat this process twice or thrice a week to darken your grey strands. Black tea contains caffeine that is loaded with antioxidants. It not only adds a natural dark hue to your hair but also strengthens your hair and stimulates its growth.

#3 Almond Oil and Lemon Juice

Applying a mixture of lemon juice and almond oil on your scalp and massaging it thoroughly will stimulate hair growth and prevent premature greying. Take two parts almond oil and three parts fresh lemon juice, mix them thoroughly and apply directly on your scalp. Use your fingertips to massage the scalp. Rinse it off after 30 minutes. Almond oil contains vitamin E, which is beneficial for hair growth. On the other hand, Lemon juice has vitamin C in abundance, which acts as an antioxidant and provides immunity to the hair follicles.

#4 Coffee and Henna

One of the simplest ways to treat premature greying is applying coffee and henna mask. Boil a cup of hot water. Add one tablespoon of coffee powder and some henna powder to make a thick paste. You can also add one tablespoon of a hair oil of your choice (natural). Apply this mask all over the scalp and hair and let it dry. Wash it off after 1 hour. Henna is an excellent colourant and conditioner. Coffee contains caffeine that is beneficial for hair stimulation.

#5 Curry Leaves and Coconut Oil

Boil one cup of coconut oil and fresh curry leaves until the mixture turns black. Put it aside to cool down. Once cooled, strain the mixture and store it in a glass container. Massage your scalp with this mixture and leave it overnight. Wash your hair with shampoo and conditioner. Repeat 2-3 times a week. Vitamin B found in curry leaves helps in restoring the hair pigment.

#6 Onion Juice

Onion juice is an effective remedy for premature greying. Mix 1 tablespoon of olive oil, one tablespoon of lemon juice, and three tablespoons of onion juice and apply this mixture to your scalp. The antioxidants present in the mixture will stimulate hair growth and tackle premature greying.

#7 Rosemary

Take an 8-ounce jar and fill its 1/3rd with dried rosemary. Next, fill the jar to the top with coconut oil or olive oil and leave the jar in direct sunlight for 4-6 weeks. Shake the jar every other day. Use this mixture as hair oil.

#8 Supplements

If natural remedies aren’t doing much for your hair, you can consider taking multivitamins. But, consult with your doctor before you take multivitamins.

Final Words

As you age, your hair follicles lose their ability to provide nutrition to your hair. So, you need to provide them with external application of essential minerals and vitamins. These tips will help you in curing premature greying of hair. If it persists, consult a doctor.
