There’s no funny actress than Melissa, a mom of two daughters, the celebrity made the world stand still when she shocked her fans in her new appearance by losing a whopping 75 pounds. Melissa grew up in Illinois. She was not a chubby kid since childhood, she started gaining weight when she became a teenager and got attracted to all kinds of junk food. That’s when she started gaining weight.

In an interview with The Rolling Stones, Melissa McCarthy said,

“I do think I worried about weight too soon when it was only little-kid weight. I thought I battled weight throughout high school, but I look back at pictures of me as a cheerleader, doing sprints, lifting weights, doing gymnastics, playing tennis, and while I wasn’t reed-thin like some girls … I was a size six the entire time. So what on Earth was I freaking out about?”

Melissa told More magazine in 2013 that her weight has fluctuated in the past. “I’ve been every size in the world,” she said, per Us Weekly.

“Parts of my twenties, I was in great shape, but I didn’t appreciate it. If I was a six or an eight, I thought, ‘Why aren’t I a two or a four?’ Now I feel like I have two great kids and the dreamiest husband on the planet, and everything else is just a work in progress.”

Later when she moved to L.A. she started eating unhealthy and gained 25 pounds suddenly.

How did Melissa McCarthy weight loss?

Melissa told in an interview, that after she bagged the role in Gilmore Girls. She went on a crazy liquid diet suggested by a doctor, which made her lose 70 pounds in four months. “I’d never do that again. I felt starved and crazy half the time,” she said.

Melissa always had trouble finding a designer for her clothes. “When I go shopping, most of the time I’m disappointed,” she told Redbook in 2014. “Two Oscars ago, I couldn’t find anybody to do a dress for me. I asked five or six designers—very high-level ones who make lots of dresses for people—and they all said no.”

That’s when she thought to have her own brand of clothing line “Melissa McCarthy Seven7” line in 2015.

“Women come in all sizes. Seventy percent of women in the United States is a size 14 or above, and that’s technically ‘plus-size,’ so you’re taking your biggest category of people and telling them, ‘You’re not really worthy.’ I find that very strange,” she told Refinery29. “I just think, if you’re going to make women’s clothing, make women’s clothing. Designers that put everyone in categories are over-complicating something that should be easy.”

While Melissa McCarthy Seven7 is no longer in production, Melissa is working on a new label, according to WSJ magazine. She shared with them in August 2019: “I’ve been every shape and size that’s out there, and I just found it harder and harder to find stuff,” she says.

She went on to say, “I thought, I’m modern and young and want to wear what everybody else is wearing. Why is this such a strange request? I just wanted to make it a little smaller and more accessible. I wanted to work on keeping prices down and for it to be for everyone.”

In 2015, Melissa lost 50 pounds just by changing her thoughts towards the weight. “I truly stopped worrying about it,” she told the magazine. “I think there’s something to kinda loosening up and not being so nervous and rigid about it that, bizarrely, has worked.”

She lost her weight by having a super-boring life. “No trick, nothing to tell, just super-boring life,” she told ExtraTV. “You bring it real down, you don’t do anything fun, and you go to bed at 7:30—that’s the trick.”

It was rumored before that Melissa took the Keto diet to lose weight. Although in today’s time a Keto diet is very helpful and effective to lose weight.

Melissa started having a low-carb diet. She ate lots of organic vegetables, lean protein, and only a little amount of carbohydrates. Her food items include-

1. High Protein Intake

We have always learned that Proteins are the building block of our bodies. Melissa started having a low-carb diet, so it was necessary to have a high protein diet in order to keep the body running. She used to have- cage-free chicken breast, cage-free eggs, wild-caught fish, grass-fed beef. Having a high protein diet can be very effective for fat and weight loss.

2. Consume Healthy Fats-

Melissa used to consume healthy fats, while she was on her low-carb diet. She used to consume between 30-40% of her daily calorie in healthy fat forms. Like- nuts, seeds, avocado, fish, eggs, beef, etc.

3. Have Good Carbs-

Good carbs like veggies, fruit juice, quinoa, and vegetable juice are good sources of energy. They take longer to digest, and give the feeling of fullness, improve bowel movement, and also boost metabolism.

4. Lemon Water-

Melissa Mccarthy used to drink a glass of lemon water, whenever she felt hungry. Drinking extra water and keeping your body healthy reduces hunger and increases metabolism. Lemon water improves the flavor and also helps with digestion.

5. Avoid Sugar-

Melissa used to avoid refined sugar and sugary products, and this helps in regulating the blood sugar level and also prevents the feeling of lethargy. She abstained from sugary sweet foods (e.g. pastries, cookies, etc.) which spikes the glucose level.

6. Take Rest-

This is very important. Resting and sleeping help in weight loss. As the more stressed you are, the more you feel hungry and start eating. So being calm and composed is very necessary.

  • Farmer’s walk- She used to take up two dumbbells in each hand, walk around the gym and do the lunges.
  • Inverted Pull-ups- A Smith machine bar would be set at hip height, and all Melissa would do was lie down, hold the bar with both hands, and try to pull her upper body close to the bar.
  • Dumbbell bench press- Dumbbell is mostly done using a bar, but Melissa did bench press instead of a bar and this helped her the most. The upper back, arms, chest, and shoulders were the main target of this exercise.
  • Smith machine squats- Smith Machine squats were the best for Melissa as they canceled out any chances of a low back injury.
