If you want to make sure that you are looking after your health and your wellbeing as much as possible then you need to follow this guide. Here you will find out if your lower back pain is serious, while also finding out if there is anything that you can do to try and solve the issues you’re having.

Lower Back Symptoms

Lower back pain will often involve a host of other symptoms as well. It can be mild and a little bit annoying but at the same time, it can also be somewhat debilitating. Lower back pain can also start suddenly or it can keep on coming back. If you want to help yourself then you need to first see if the pain is dull or if it is achy. Is it contained to your lower back? Stinging or even burning pains that move from the lower back to your thigh can be a sign of sciatica as well. Another thing to take note of is if you are having a hard time standing up straight or if you are having a problem walking.

Reading a blog entry on a chiropractor Libertyville website, it stated that there are many physical injuries and musculoskeletal conditions that can cause lower back pain. If lower back pain persists it generally means there is an underlying issue which needs treatment to stop the issue becoming worse as the person ages.

Types of Lower Back Pain

There are many ways that you can essentially categories lower back pain. Some of them include having mechanical pain. The most common cause of back pain could be from your joints, your muscles, ligaments and more. Sometimes it may be travelling to your lower back and your buttocks. Radicular pain would be the pain that occurs if you have a spinal nerve that is inflamed or impinged. This can follow a nerve root pattern or it can be seen as being an electric or burning type of sensation. If you want to help yourself here then it would be wise for you to go and see a chiropractor, or for you to see if any doctors can work with you to try and make sure that you get to the root of the issue.

Back Pain with No Definitive Cause

It’s more than possible for you to develop back pain that has no cause whatsoever. When things like this happen, you may find that the focus tends to be on the symptoms rather than the source. Your chiropractor or doctor will help you to find ways to manage the pain that you are in as well so that they can give you the support you need to make a full recovery.

Symptoms you Need to Look Out For

If you are not entirely sure if your back pain is serious or not then it may be that you don’t know what signs to look out for. If you want to know some of the top signs of a serious problem then look below.

Sharp Pain

If you have a sharp pain as opposed to a dull ache then this could indicate that you have a torn muscle or even a torn ligament. You may also have an issue with the organs that are either side of your back.

Radiating Pain

If you have pain that happens to shoot from your back to your legs, or if you feel it in the glutes then again this could indicate that you have a serious nerve issue or that you are suffering from some kind of compression. Sudden Weakness

Limb weakness can also be caused if you have compressed nerves in the legs or in the spine. This could be caused by sciatica or even spinal stenosis. If you know that you have sudden weakness in your legs and it appears to come out of nowhere then this can be a major sign that you are suffering from a stroke and therefore need to take action.

If you happen to have weakness, numbness and incontinence altogether then you may be suffering from a condition known as cauda equina syndrome. This happens when you have damage to your spinal cord. This is a serious medical emergency, and you will need to undergo immediate treatment.

If you need some help then it would be wise for you to try and contact a professional so that they can give you the help and support you need to make a full recovery. They can also help you to make sure that you are not overlooking an important issue so keep that in mind.
