There are many types of skin: oily, dry, sensitive, and normal. But dry skin on the face is something else. Dry skin appears when there is a lack of moisture content in your skin cells, and this causes many other skin problems like cracks in the skin, itchiness, and redness. There are many ways one can get dry skin, but it is always good to start treating it as soon as you learn about it. Delaying treating dry skin can make the situation worse.

  • Tightness- There’s no softness in the skin; it feels tight, especially after washing.
  • Itching- Your skin keeps feeling itchy. Scratching your skin is one of the symptoms that your skin lacks Moisturization.
  • Rough texture: dry skin feels rough when touched; this is a sign of a lack of moisture.
  • Redness-This happens in the most severe cases; dry skin appears red due to irritation and inflammation.

How to treat dry skin on face With Home Remedies

1. Avoid using cosmetics with harsh ingredients-

These days, you can find many cosmetics on the market. But not all cosmetics are good for your skin. Before choosing a cosmetic, make sure you check the ingredients. Always avoid using cosmetics that contain traces of harsh ingredients.

2. Choose olive oil moisturizer-

If you have very dry, flaky skin, then choose the extra-moisturizing olive oil. Olive oil is rich in vitamin E, and antioxidants; it helps to repair damaged skin, clear clogged pores, and remove acne from the skin.

Take a few drops of olive oil and massage your face with it.

3. Avoid hot showers-

Hot showers are not good for skin; they rip out the natural moisture and oil from the skin and cause skin damage. Use lukewarm showers and moisturizing soap to reverse the skin-damaging effect.

4. Petroleum jelly-

Petroleum jelly is like a magical fairy for people with dry skin. And I can understand it very well, as I too have dry skin, and I just cannot live without Vaseline or petroleum jelly.
Vaseline helps to lock in the moisture in the skin and make it soft and smooth. It forms a protective barrier on the skin, protecting it from harsh winds and harmful UV rays.

Applying Vaseline at night gives your skin time to repair, and you get soft skin in the morning.

5. Using rose water:

As soon as winter hits, we start our search for rose water. Rose water is one of the easiest and healthiest ways to heal our skin and keep it moisturized. You can try using rose water, either by adding it to your moisturizer or by making a scrub out of it.

6. Humidifier in winter:

If you notice, then dry skin gets worse in the winter season. Cold winds and lack of moisture can rip the natural oil from your face, causing cracks in the skin. Using a portable humidifier in winter will help to add moisture to the room and keep your skin hydrated.

7. Exfoliate dead skin-

Exfoliating your skin once or twice a week will help to get rid of dead skin and product buildup. Once you remove dead skin from your face, serums and moisturizers that you apply will penetrate easily into the skin.

But remember to use a very gentle exfoliation once a week to avoid ripping off skin.

8. Soak your skin in oatmeal bath-

Oatmeal is very relaxing and can instantly rehydrate your skin. Oats themselves are a very soothing ingredients. You can draw yourself an oatmeal bath and soak your skin in it. After soaking your skin, you will feel relaxed and will get rid of dry, inflamed, and irritated skin.

9. A moisturizing bedtime routine

When you sleep at night, your skin automatically goes into repair mode. So, it is necessary to have a good, moisturizing bedtime routine. Before hitting the bed, make sure your face is cleaned. Use a gentle cleanser to clean your face from any dirt.

Apply a moisturizing coconut oil and massage your face with it. Coconut oil is very moisturizing and helps to heal the hands and dry skin.

10. Nourishing oils-

Natural nourishing oils are great for skin. They help to moisturize the skin and create a natural skin barrier to protect the skin. There are many oils, like olive oil, coconut oil, jojoba oil and argan oil that are hydrating, and moisturizing in nature.

11. Aloe vera for dry skin

Well, one cannot forget the amazing aloe vera when it comes to taking care of the skin. Aloe vera is one of the most important natural ingredients to get rid of dry skin. It helps to prevent breakouts, keeps the skin moisturized, and gives you soft and glowing skin.

  • Cut the fresh aloe vera leaf, extract it gel, and apply it to the face.
  • You can also use, aloe vera gel on face.

12. Get adequate sleep-

We often tend to avoid this factor when it comes to our healthy skin or even hair. Yes, having good and uninterrupted sleep is the top most priority when it comes to good health. Sleeping for 7–8 hours keeps your skin healthy and dark circles away.

Above are some ways through which you can treat dry skin on your face. The symptoms of dry skin discussed above can vary from person to person, and can the severity of dry skin. The most common factors contributing to dry skin is environmental and lifestyle factors.
