What causes Yellow Teeth?

Yellow teeth are caused by simple things, which we do in our daily routine like-

  • Food and Drinks- Tea, coffee, and wine all three of them are dark in color. Drinking them too much can cause yellow teeth. Also, some of the acidic drinks like soda, and some fruits and vegetables causes stain in teeth.
  • Smoking- Smoking is injurious to health and also to our teeth. Tobacco products contain teeth-staining particles. They get stuck in the tooth enamel. The particles which get stuck up get build up inside and create a stain. This keeps on accumulating and it gets difficult to remove the stain over time.
  • Thin Enamel- Thin tooth enamel is the hard surface of the teeth, underneath the hard surface is a pale brown substance called dentin. This thin enamel also makes the teeth look yellow like drinks and smoking. Thick enamel looks white, but thin enamel looks yellow.
  • Dry Mouth- When there is saliva in our mouth; it washes away the germs and toxins. Saliva protects our mouth from developing thin tooth enamel. When we sleep with our mouth open, we breathe through our mouth and saliva does not get developed, hence preventing our mouth from getting moisturized.
  • Medications- There are some medicines and antibiotics, which causes the yellowing of teeth. Children many times intake excessive fluoride, which causes yellowing of teeth.
