You might be thinking about what I mean by Hair type. We always think that the hair can be either curly or straight. It’s the only two types of hair found. But you will be surprised to know that there are 12 types of hair and each is different from another. This is the reason celebrities’ hair is so perfect because they know their hair care for different hair types.
I too was unaware of these many hair types. But recently, I came across a pic of hair types, and then I decided to write a blog on it as if we do not know our hair type how we will take care of it? So, after a whole lot of research, I have brought for you the hair types and how one can take care of it-
There are four main types of Hair-
These four types have other subcategories-
We all are aware of this category, but there are not just straight hair; there three types of straight hair. If you are into this category, you might be facing the problem of getting greasy hair in a day or two as the oil from the scalp travels the whole hair making it greasy. Now, let us look at its three subcategories-
With the name, we all can understand, that it is a wavy hair. They are slightly thicker than straight hair. They are also divided into three categories, according to the type and shape of wave-
This is the curly hair, we all know off. These are that kind of curl, which when washed becomes straight and then after drying goes back to curls. It is the same type I am having. Now let’s look at it subcategories-
Mine one goes into 3A type of curls.
These are very curly hair. We can say one with tight coils. They get very affected by heat and chemical products as they are very sensitive, and their texture is fairly coarse. It is also divided into three subcategories-
Straight hair is shiny and lively, but it tends to get greasy and oily very soon. So, it is recommended to use oil-free shampoo.
When you blow-dry your straight hair, flip it over upside down and always use a big round brush. And also use dry shampoo, because of the natural oil which comes into the scalp, which makes the hair greasy.
To volumize the hair, spread texture from the roots to the ends, this will help in giving you more volume.
Go for a blunt cut, to volumize your hair. You can also choose layered haircut if you have medium or thick straight hair.
To keep the original look of the curls, we need to control the frizz without weighing the hair down. The primary concern for wavy hair people should be to keep it moisturized.
Keeping the natural curls intact without getting it frizzy, is a little difficult. Always apply mousse to your roots and take it till end. Mousse should always be applied when your hair is damp.
Always dry your hair using a diffuser. Once the hair is dry 80-90%, turn off the heat, and apply the finishing cream.
You can also apply little oil to control the frizz, apply the oil from the middle to end never on the scalp.
Go for longer hair, as it tends to show the perfect waves. The shorter you go, the hair becomes more curly. Try having a layered haircut to increase the volume of the hair.
Keep the hair moistured and hydrated to avoid the frizz. Try using hair masks to lock the moisture in the hair.
When you apply conditioner, detangle your hair with the help of fingers. Once the hair is dry, do not comb your hair.
When you wash your hair, do not use a towel, instead use a soft T-shirt it will help in controlling frizz.
If blow drying your curls, always use a diffuser to avoid frizziness.
If you wish to show your natural curls, apply some mousse on the hair to keep it intact. Curly hair also goes with the same mantra- the shorter, the curlier.
To keep these hair types moistured, you need to use a little mousse, a little oil, and finishing cream. Always use just a bit, to avoid making the hair greasy.
Do not towel dry your hair, use a soft t-shirt instead. Do not use excessive blow-drying, and let them dry naturally. After drying, you can use a leave-in conditioner for added moisture and define your curls.
Trim your hair every 3-4 months to keep them healthy. Avoid getting it short.
