10 Best Ways to Use Sheet Masks for Maximum Results

Sheet masks are an easy and effective way to provide your skin with an immediate and big boost of vitamins and moisture. They’re also a fun way to relax and pamper yourself at home!

Get better skin and get a reason to do nothing for 10 to 30 minutes? Who could say no to that?

Whether your skin is dry, oily, or moisturized, sheet masks are available to help you get soothing and affordable skincare, here are the 10 best ways to use sheet masks available today.

1. Cleaning Is the First Step to Receive All the Benefits of A Sheet Mask

If you’re getting ready to use a sheet mask for your face, you should always cleanse your face first. This gets rid of all the dirt and impurities on your skin so your cells are ready to soak in the vitamins and other ingredients you’re getting ready to nourish it with.

Remember to lather gently, use lukewarm water to rinse your face off, and then gently pat your skin dry with a soft towel.

2. Applying a Toner Will Prepare Your Pores for Sheet Masking

Think of toner like the clear base coat you put on your nails before you paint on the polish. A toner balances your skin’s pH level and helps to open your pores. This way, your skin is neutral and prepared to receive the big boost of nutrients the sheet mask will provide.

Some ladies prefer to use a cotton pad to apply toner while others just like to put a little toner in their bare hands and pat in on. Either way, apply the toner gently and pat it on softly.

3. The Liquid That Sheet Masks Are Soaked In Is Serum

When you first open up the sheet mask packaging, there will probably be a white or opaque liquid dripping from the sheet mask. Don’t worry! That’s just the serum that the sheet mask is soaked in.

Serums provide your skin with moisture, vitamins, and sometimes other helpful nutrients like hyaluronic acid. This serum is where the sheet mask benefits come from!

4. Sheet Masks Can Have a Number of Different Ingredients

These days, you can find sheet masks including a number of unique ingredients. Everything from aloe vera and green tea to charcoal and seaweed can be found in sheet masks.

Of course, all of these ingredients are helpful for different skin types and conditions. Make sure to choose the sheet mask that’s most beneficial for your skin.

5. Sheet Masks Do Not Cleanse or Exfoliate Your Skin

While sheet mask benefits are real, sheet masks can’t do it all. In particular, don’t expect your sheet mask to cleanse or exfoliate your skin. These steps must be done separately.

Always cleanse your face twice a day, once in the morning and then again in the evening. It’s best to exfoliate once or twice a week using gentle, natural exfoliators.

6. A Sheet Mask Is Most Effective When it’s Clinging Directly to Your Skin

When you put your sheet mask on, start at your forehead and slowly work your way down your face. Carefully place the holes over your eyes, then lay the mask on your face, over your mouth, and down to your chin.

To maximize your sheet mask benefits, you want the mask to cling directly to your face as much as possible. If there are any bumps or wrinkles in the sheet mask, try to smooth them out. It’s best to gently press the sheet mask against your face, smoothing out any bumps in an outward direction.

7. Sheet Masks Are Made From a Special Paper That Helps Seal Your Skin

One reason sheet masks are so amazing is that they create a seal on your skin. This prevents the moisture and vitamins from escaping! Your skin cells get to absorb virtually all of the nourishing ingredients.

8. Contrary To Popular Belief, You Should Not Wash Your Face after Removing a Sheet Mask

Many women also think they should wash their face immediately after removing a face mask. Don’t do it! You’ll be removing all the wonderful serum that provides the sheet mask benefits you’re after.

If there is excess serum on your face after removing a sheet mask, gently pat it into your skin.

9. Applying Moisturizer and Eye Cream after You’ve Used a Sheet Mask Will Help to Maximize Sheet Mask Benefits

Once you’ve patted in all the extra serum, it’s time to apply a layer of moisturizer to keep all the nutrients and hydration locked into your skin cells.

You can also dab on a little eye cream to help prevent eye lines and under-eye wrinkles from forming.

10. You Can Use Sheet Masks Pretty Much As Often As You Want

The only limits to how often you use sheet masks are time and money. In other words, feel free to sheet mask to your heart’s desire! Some Korean women even say they use a sheet mask every single evening to keep their skin complexion even and smooth.

The only exception is if you have acne or extremely sensitive skin. In these cases, you may irritate your skin if you sheet mask too often.
